K. Diane Hoskins
Founder and Principal
Diane Hoskins is a thinker and a doer that wins policy change. She helps build momentum for new ideas, transcend complexity, redefine what’s possible and win policy change. Working at the intersection of climate change, ocean conservation, energy, and innovation, she turns ambitious ideas into strategies that deliver real world outcomes.
Diane most recently led the global policy and communications function for a $70 million philanthropic effort, helping shape governance for the emerging field of ocean-based carbon dioxide removal. She worked with scientists, entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, and policymakers to build capacity through grant making to increase literacy of new approaches to climate action for policy makers. In this role she helped Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute secure the first EPA research permit.
Previously, Diane led Oceana’s U.S. Climate and Energy team and its winning campaign to stop the expansion of offshore drilling in the United States. Under her leadership, the campaign garnered support from more than 300 municipal governments and every east and west coast Governor. The campaign secured passage of bipartisan legislation in 10 states as well as the U.S. House of Representatives. The campaign also won a 10-year moratorium on offshore drilling for 4 states, signed by President Trump.
Earlier, at The Pew Charitable Trusts, she directed a successful campaign to reform the Army Corps of Engineers’ Nationwide Permit program, securing the first-ever national living shorelines permit and opening the door to nature-based solutions to coastal erosion. She also served as director of external affairs and government relations at Restore America’s Estuaries, a membership organization of leading coastal conservation groups.
Earlier in her career, Diane held roles on The Nature Conservancy’s Climate Change, Federal Legislative Campaigns, and EcoEnterprises Fund teams. At EcoEnterprises, she helped write a book on environmental venture capital investing in Latin America. Her experience also includes serving as a local elected official in Washington, DC, a program manager with the District Department of Environment, a year of AmeriCorps service, and work with a microfinance organization in West Africa.
Diane graduated summa cum laude from the University of Maryland with a degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics.
